Parents & families, an incident involving police activity occurred on Aviation Blvd. between El Segundo Blvd. and Rosecrans Blvd. near the 360 housing development around 10:00 am this morning. Upon hearing this, we immediately went into a soft lock down and contacted the police. They shared with us that the suspect was already in custody and that we were cleared from lock down. We will ensure there is additional staff presence at the dismissal of summer school today at noon.
Class of 2017: If you are a student attending a Cal State or UC college in the fall, and if you listed your Antioch college courses on your application, your college is expecting to receive your Antioch transcript. Antioch shared they would mail them to the DVC front office but they have NOT arrived as of today, Monday June 26, 2017. Please note – your Da Vinci Communications final transcripts WERE sent out two weeks ago by your counselors.
We are working to obtain these as soon as possible, and are hoping they arrive by tomorrow (Tuesday 6/27), but in the meantime we strongly advise you to do the following:
- Contact the admissions office at your college and tell them that you were enrolled in a college program at your high school campus (Antioch University) and the transcript they have sent to Da Vinci Communications has not arrived yet. Let them know you will be able to pick it up from DVC upon their arrival (hopefully this week!) and mail it to them once you do so.
- You can go to the Antioch University LA office in Culver City and pick up a copy of your transcript and mail it to your school by no later than Thursday, June 29 so that it arrives by July 1.
- Their office is located at: 400 Corporate Pointe, Culver City, CA 90230
Reminder: Friday is a full day of school, and POL schedule begins on Tuesday 5/30
Junior Family Meetings
Thank you to all of the junior families that showed up to speak with Brittany about senior year plans. If you missed the meeting, I will hand out the packets and current transcripts out to students on Friday.
The Posse Foundation Nomination Deadline has Been Extended to 5/31
Posse offers these selected students the opportunity to pursue both academic and personal excellence by partnering with universities countrywide and awarding them with four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships. The Posse Foundation selects only 10 students per college in the Los Angeles area making the process extremely competitive.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, the student must fill out The Posse Foundation Application Nomination Form located in the office. All applications are due May 31st and students will find out if they are nominated during POLS week. Once nominated, the student will part-take in a three-part process, including large group and individual interviews. Posse staff and university partner administrators ultimately select a diverse group of 10 students for each college or university, thus forming a Posse. Please encourage your child to apply to the Posse Foundation.
