Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn valuable career lessons!

This Monday, June 2nd, Dr. Tracey Childs, a general surgeon and Da Vinci Design parent, will speak at DVD as part of a healthcare speaker series designed to introduce students to diverse careers in the medical field. Dr. Childs will share her career trajectory, and personal experiences and insights as a surgeon and researcher.

Dr. Childs received her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and has been in practice for 28 years. She is affiliated with multiple hospitals, including University of California Los Angeles Medical Center and Saint John’s Health Center.

Call for volunteers to watch over students during POLs.

We will have academic coaches watching over students who are not presenting that day during POL week.  However, we need parents to help watch over the rooms as well.  Your presence alone is valuable (you can come and read a book if you would like), or you can come and give the students advice on their presentations, helping them with confidence, eye contact, etc.  Sign up at:

POL Days

During POL days school runs from 8:00am to 12:00pm

Tuesday May 27^th – Thursday June 5^th

Last day of school, June 6^th, is a full day: 10:00am to 3:55pm

Remember – Incoming Freshman BBQ tomorrow, Friday 4:30-6:00pm

On behalf of the incoming freshmen committee at Da Vinci Design and Communications, we are seeking donations for our Freshmen Welcoming BBQ.

Some items we would appreciate include:

-Cups -Sodas

-Plates -Water

-Napkins -Chips

-Hamburger Buns -Hot Dog Buns

-Condiments -Side Dishes

-Desserts

Any type of donation is greatly appreciated! Donations can be dropped off in the Da Vinci Design front office by May 20th. Food items can be delivered the morning of the BBQ May 23rd.

POL Updates

With only two weeks left of classes before POLs start, students will be prepping for their final presentations in class quite a bit for the rest of the year.  In order to make sure all students are prepared, teachers will be passing out POL info on Monday and students will have a full two weeks to prepare their presentation.

Attached is a POL information packet which includes the following details:

• Policies and procedures for re-presentations

• Joint Family Association Meeting – Tuesday, May 13th at 6:30pm in the Science Forum

• Coffee and pastries with the principal – Tuesday, May 13th at 7:30am at Da Vinci  Communications.

• Next Parent Workshop – Tuesday, May 20th 6:00pm – 7:00pm Room 103 focus is on organizational strategies for home and school. Flyer attached.

• New Family BBQ – Friday, May 23rd 4:30 to 6:00pm.  An optional BBQ for new families, both at Da Vinci Communications and Da Vinci Design.  If you would like to meet the new members of our community and Da Vinici graduates, come by Da Vinci Communications/Design for some hot dogs and good company.
