Tomorrow is the last day of school of the semester. All students should be in school from 8am to 12pm tomorrow (even if you were in the afternoon POL group). We have no school for students on Friday.
Congratulations to all students who have finished and have passed their first semester POLs!
Report cards will be sent out on Monday December 21st – look for them in the mail.
Thank you to all families yesterday for trusting us with your kids and helping us run a normal POL schedule while schools closed in Los Angeles Unified School District. The threat that disrupted other schools yesterday was specific to LAUSD and had no direct impact on our schools. All of the Da Vinci Schools including us at DVC had a calm and uneventful day. We are thankful to our faculty and staff for their continued efforts to ensure the physical and emotional safety of our children.
Remember to hand in a sex-ed permission slip for your child if you have not yet done so. We will begin sex-ed when the second semester starts in January. Here is a copy of the permission slip:

Tomorrow is the last day of the canned food drive, put together by the social support group:

DVC,
LAUSD has just announced that they are closed today following a bomb threat made toward one of their board members. (Story: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-all-lausd-schools-closed-threat-20151215-story.html )
Because there has been no threat made to DV or Wiseburn, we will hold school today as we normally do unless directed to do otherwise. We will keep you posted if anything else arises.

Happy holiday season everyone. The weather appears to finally be in agreement with the season, and students are finishing up their POLs and their first semester of the school year.
This week we will run POLs through Wednesday, then Thursday we have a half day for students. All students are on campus Thursday from 8am to 12pm (even students in the afternoon group come early that day). Many students have finished up their POLs and will be working on re-submissions or on Rosetta Stone this week during school.
Grades are final after this Thursday, and we will be sending out report cards Monday, December 21.

POLs begin this Wednesday! Remember, all students are expected to be at school from 8am to 12pm, unless they are scheduled in the smaller afternoon group (in which case they should be at school from 12pm to 3:30pm). If you have questions about which group your child is in, please ask them and then remind them that this essential knowledge should be shared with you much sooner.
If students are not passing any classes they are required to stay the entire day to improve their grades. Teachers will be available for guidance and feedback after lunch for around 45 minutes, at which point they will then resume watching POLs. Once students are passing all of their classes they can head home early.
Please consider joining Da Vinci families and staff in pledging their support to Da Vinci Schools by joining our Annual Giving Campaign! http://www.davincischools.org/makeagift.shtml
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Chevron, Belkin, Northrop, and Kinecta, all donations to the Da Vinci Schools Annual Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000. This matching challenge is only available for a limited time. Make your donation or pledge by March 31, 2016 and your gift will be doubled. All pledge payments must be received by June 1, 2016 to be eligible for the match.
Dollars raised through the Annual Fund benefit every K-12 student by providing hands-on curriculum for every age level, a $1,000 materials budget for every teacher, innovative educational technology, and the day-to-day operating expenses that are not funded by the state of California.
