Annual Giving Campaign-Double Your Donation Now Through 3/31
Time is running out to double your donation! Thanks to a generous matching challenge by Chevron, Belkin, Northrop and Kinecta, every donation and pledge made to the Annual Giving Campaign by March 31 will be DOUBLED, up to $50,000. Please make a gift or pledge today.

Recently a few of you asked how the Annual Giving donations are used at DVC. Thank you for asking!  We use your Annual Giving dollars to do so many things! Your dollars support our real-world, project-based curriculum, college visits, and technology. Our teachers also receive project and classroom budgets so that they can buy the supplies needed to stock their classrooms full of great learning materials and project supplies.

There is a $500 per student gap between state dollars and what we need to operate the high quality program that we provide. Your donations ensure that programs like Project Lead The Way, Early College, Work Experience, and teacher budgets are all possible.

Thank you for any donation you can make and as a reminder, your donation will be matched (that means doubled!!!) before March 31st.

I hope you will join me in donating. Our current family participation rate is 15%. No matter the size of your donation, knowing that 100% of families want all of our programs to continue and therefore donate to keep them in place means a lot!

week 28

Pi Day/Ides of March/College Knowledge Night

March 15, 2016 by Office

Happy belated Pi day and happy Ides of March everyone. Yesterday the 11th grade learned that if you look far enough through the decimal digits of pi, you can find your phone number (or really, any series of digits).

College Knowledge Night – Thursday 6pm

Come out this Thursday for a highly informative evening of college presentations. You can choose which workshops to attend to make your evening valuable to where your student is in the college process, so we we encourage parents to attend from all grade levels.

Date: Thursday, March 17

Time: 6:00-8:00pm (choice of four 25 minute rotating workshops) – Come when you can and take one, two or four workshops!

Location: Da Vinci Design/Communications Campus, 12501 Isis Ave, Hawthorne CA

Parents: Have any burning questions about what it takes to get into a California State University? University of California? Out of state college? Community college? Are you wondering how much college really costs and how are you going to be able to pay for it?

Students: Wondering how to create the best college essay that will get the attention of your dream college? Heard about the new SAT and want to know what’s in store for the students who have to take it?

Dance photos

Thank you to everyone who helped out with the Da Vinci Gala this past Friday. Though I cannot read minds, all observations suggest that the students had a great time, and kept the dance floor going the whole time. Pictures from the photo booth are accessible through the link below (thank you to Da Vinci alumni Josh for running the photo booth).

Thank you again to everyone on the dance committee, especially the parents who purchased food, table decorations, drinks and for the last minute tablecloth run!
