Senior Portraits

DVC Seniors! If you would like a personal portrait sitting with Stacee Lianna, you can reserve your spot now. All seniors will have cap and gown photo sessions at school for yearbook pictures in January, but if you would like to purchase senior portrait pictures, reserving a spot with Stacee is the way to go – you won’t be able to purchase cap and gown photos from the session at school.

  • The deadline for a free 8×10 portrait with your senior portrait order has been extended. If you make your payment by this Friday, 8/26, you will receive a free 8” x 10” portrait!
  • You can pay up to your portrait date.
  • If you’ve tried to pay on PayPal the flyer has a typo in my email address. Send your payments to seniors@staceelianna.com and if you’ve already sent a PayPal payment and haven’t heard from Stacee send her an email and we’ll get it taken care of!
  • If you have any questions send Stacee an email at seniors@staceelianna.com

Internship Opportunities

Natasha Morse, our director of Real World Learning, has found some wonderful internships available to DVC 11th and 12th graders. Continue reading to see how to apply:

Michael Stars Fashion Line

There are two internships at Michael Stars fashion line – one for a PR & Marketing Intern, and another for an Advertising intern.  These are pretty high powered; lots of responsibility for students.

Susan G Komen

We have 3 positions as Susan G. Komen. This will give students a glimpse into the day to day operations of a non-profit, ranging from marketing to graphic design to event planning.

Next steps:

  • Resume/Cover Letter:  Please have all interested students create a resume and cover letter to pass along to the hiring managers before officially programming them into the class.  Perhaps they can email both of us with the resume and cover letter as attachments (saved as resume or cover letter and their full name) and include what position they would like in the body of their email.  I think that this will ensure students learn the real world application skills.  Student can find resources for creating a cover letter and resume on the RWL website under “student resources” http://www.dvrealworldlearning.com/forms.html .
  • Programming:  Once we have students, I’ll work with them and the company to finalize their schedule.  I hope it can be every afternoon, but there may be one day or so that they do not need students.  Do we have a plan for this?

Torrance Memorial Hospital Internship

Calling all Da Vinci students with an interest in health sciences!  You can apply for a volunteer program with Torrance Memorial Hospital – application deadline is August 31st!

First Day of School – Enter through the back DVC gate

August 15, 2016 by Office

We are excited to welcome all students back for the first day of school! All students should enter through the back DVC gate to be welcomed by teachers, and then we will gather in the DVC lunch area to start the day. Students will then head to advisories. Advisory rosters will be posted at the DVC office, and are in this document. Most students have the same advisory from last year, but with new advisories for our new 12th grade teaching team we randomly changed advisories of a few students in each advisory from last year, so all students should check for a possible new assignment:

Student Advisories

Full student schedules are currently in PowerSchool, and will be passed out in advisory at the start of the day.
