Cash For College Event

Cash4College 2017 Flyer CO-OP

 

CO-OP Academic Pathways is a Cash for College Workshop site during the Cash For College Super Saturday Weekend this Saturday (January 21st) from 10:00am to 3:00pm. This is a community event so all Da Vinci students and their families can get assistance with the FAFSA, Cal Grant, Dream Act, and other financial aid related questions. All students who attend will be eligible for the Cash For College Scholarship.

There are other sites throughout the city on Saturday and throughout the next few months. Please check out www.cash4college.org for more information.

Summer 2017 Programs

Are you interested in participating in a summer 2017 program where you can earn college credit and experience what it’s like to live on a college campus? Well, we believe that the following two amazing programs are great opportunities for our high school students, and the best part is that they offer financial aid!

 

COSMOS (California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science)- UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz

COSMOS website is now live with information regarding applying for Summer 2017.  If your questions are not answered on the website, please email them at: applycosmos@ucdavis.edu for all Statewide inquiries. They offer an array of interesting clusters at each campus, these are just a few examples:

  • living oceans and global climate change
  • computers in biophysics & robotics
  • video game design
  • sound for virtual reality: an exploration of 3D sound and movement using mobile devices and wearable sensors

 

Cornell University Summer College

Cornell University Summer College’s website is now live with information regarding applying for Summer 2017.
More than 1,000 motivated high school students from around the world come to Cornell every summer to take fascinating courses with leading Cornell faculty. They offer a wide range of challenging subjects:

  • architecture, art, design, and fashion
  • business, hospitality, and leadership
  • college success and English for speakers of other languages
  • debate and literature
  • engineering and robotics
  • government, history, and international relations
  • psychology, research, and science
  • social change and sustainability
  • veterinary medicine and animal science

DVC Principal Transition

Dear DVC Families,

At the conclusion of this 2016-17 school year, I will be stepping down as DVC principal to attend graduate school. Handing off leadership at DVC was not an easy decision to make, as I feel incredibly privileged to work with such capable and caring professionals, families and students who have made the DVC culture what it is today. It has been an honor to see all of our students grow over the past four years, and I am very excited about seeing our first class of seniors walk across the graduation stage in June. We have started the application and interview process for the new DVC principal, and I am extremely confident in our school leadership for the upcoming years. If you have any questions about the leadership transition, please feel free to reach out to us at school by calling, stopping by or by email.

Seminar Sign-Ups Update

All 10th, 11th and 12th grade students should have come to the office this week to sign up for seminars. If you have not, come by at lunch on Tuesday so you have a seminar class to go to!

9th grade students: many of you have signed up for seminars already, and if you haven’t, your sign-up time will be at lunch on Tuesday as well.

Seminar Sign-Ups Update

Juniors and seniors – you should have registered for seminars already. If you haven’t, come by after school this week.

Sophomores: Sign up for seminars today (Thursday) after school or tomorrow (Friday) at lunch – make sure you sign up in person in the DVC office before you leave for the weekend.

Freshmen: you can sign up for seminars Friday after school or Tuesday at lunch in the DVC office.

Come join us for an open house to see the construction happening at our new campus!

Construction Open House at 201 scheduled for Saturday, January 21 from 10:00am-2:00pm (drop in). This is an opportunity for community members, students, families, and others to get a close-up look at the new campus. There will be short tours, but no formal speakers.

ACT Prep – After School Class

Juniors and Sophomores – we are offering a greatly discounted ACT prep course after school this semester. The course runs for 2 hours twice per week during February and April, and will prep students for the April ACT course. Register with Brittany when we return from break!
