9th Grade PSAT Scores

Greetings 9th grade Parents,

On Monday, June 11, 2018 and Wednesday, June 13, 2018 the 9th grade students received their PSAT scores during POL Green Room Time. If your student was absent and/or in the POL room presenting you are able to access the PSAT 9 Scores via online at https://www.collegeboard.org/.

Have the student create an account using the same email address that was used on the answer sheet to view their scores.

Yearbooks still Available

Haven’t purchased your yearbook yet? There are still a few copies remaining for sale. Bring $65 cash or check (made out to “Da Vinci Schools” write “DVC yearbook” in the memo) to either the DVC front desk or Room 3404 (Noël’s Room).

Incoming Freshman Family Summer Meetings

This post is for incoming 9^th grade parents only. That is, for parents of current 8^th graders that will be attending DVC next year. Current DVC students and families should not sign up.

We are excited to meet you and your students here at DVC! This summer we will have three different family meeting options for you and your student to attend. It is very important that you attend one of the three days.

· Each day will have a morning or afternoon option, you only need to attend one or the other.

· Please bring a copy of your child’s 8th-grade transcript/report cards if you have them, especially if they took High School Algebra in 8th grade.

These meetings will have a lot of helpful information about DVC, high school in general, preparing for college, etc. Parents and students will take a quick tour of the school, and students will also take an assessment in Math, and if they are native Spanish speakers, a very short oral Spanish assessment as well. These are very helpful and important helping to determine proper placement for the students in their 9^th-grade classes. We look forward to seeing you this summer!

9th Grade College Fair Project

In order to increase knowledge of institutes of higher education, students worked in pairs to research and present on one small but impactful college in the United States. They held a college fair for 10th and 11th grade students in order to plant a seed about college opportunities for when it’s time to apply to colleges and universities

10th Grade English Class Surpass their Reading Goals

Our 10th-graders have been working extremely hard this semester to build their reading skills. Noel reports that collectively, the 10th-grade read 259,470 pages and 755 books in Spring 2018.

Shout-outs to Melanie for reading 13,002 pages [32 books], Elena for reading 10,389 pages [31 books], and Ryan for reaching 214% of his reading goal for the semester!

Senior Showcase Success

Our seniors have worked on these projects over the course of the past semester and all had an external client for their work. We’re extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished!
