Hi DVC Families,

In an effort to ensure that all students, staff, and family have the ability to report things anonymously to the school leadership, we’ve added an “Incident Reporting Form” to the website! You can find it on the right-hand sidebar listed under “Resources.”

Parents, if you have something you wish to communicate to either myself or Andrew Daramola (Assistant Principal), please feel free to contact us directly via email. This form is for those individuals who wish to remain anonymous, or for students who want to report something, but don’t exactly know what they should do.

Please note that this action is not in response to anything, just a proactive way to ensure that lines of communication are open and that there exists a way for the DVC students to report incidents and maintain anonymity.

Many of you have still not completed a Meal Application. To qualify for free and reduced meals for the 2019-2020 school year, please fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Application by Thursday, October 31.

You can apply in one of two ways:

1. Fill out an online application
2. Download a print application or stop by the main office at 201 N. Douglas St. to pick one up

For each additional child who is eligible for free/reduced-price meals, Da Vinci receives close to $1,800 in additional funding per student per year. This increased funding supports all of our students! Meal applications are accepted all year long but Da Vinci does not receive additional funding after Oct. 31.

If you qualify, the price for your meals will be FREE. As of Oct. 15, Da Vinci is waiving all meal costs for reduced students.

Please note: Your qualification for free/reduced meals is NOT tied to your assets or overall annual income. Rather, it is based on your estimated income at the time that the application is submitted, so you may qualify if you are in between jobs, etc.

Grant and scholarship assistance (SAT/ACT and college application fee waivers, etc.) may also be available for students who qualify for free and/or reduced-price meals.

If your student receives Medicaid benefits, he/she is eligible for free/reduced pricing.

The Annenberg Youth Academy is a FREE 4-week program offered by USC.  Students will have the opportunity to engage with professional journalists and learn about video-journalism, podcasting, and more!  See below for more details.

Hi DVC Families,

We had a great Friday and we hope you did, too! All of our seniors shared their Economics of College Project Presentation to the 9th, 10th, and 11th graders during advisory. Ask your students what they learned about college from their peers today! Also, check out the pictures of our Friendship Club doing a pumpkin and mask decorating event in our main commons during lunch. DVC loves Friendship Club!

We are excited to celebrate Spirit Week at DVC next week! Please keep in mind that our dress code still applies (unacceptable dress listed below) and that we ask that students do not wear masks or bring fake weapons to school on Halloween. We are looking forward to seeing creative and appropriate costumes on Halloween as well as appropriate attire for the other spirit days. Here is the detailed week schedule: DVC Week 11 Schedule

Unacceptable Dress @ DVC:

• Indecent exposure of any kind (midriffs, low-cut tops, large rips in jeans, undergarments showing, etc.)
• Skirts, dresses, shorts that are shorter than mid-thigh, with or without leggings/tights/stockings underneath
• Spaghetti strap tops
• See-through shirts of any kind, unless paired with an acceptable top underneath
• Inappropriate content of any kind
• Hats, beanies, or caps in class, unless otherwise stated by the teacher
