Hi DVC Families,

Thank you for attending this morning’s all-school meeting! Here is the link to the recording in case you missed it as well as a link to the slide deck we used during the meeting.

For tomorrow, all students need to know the name of their Connections Teacher and the Zoom link for their Connections teacher. If your student does not have access to their schedule to know the name of their Connections teacher, please complete this link (tinyurl.com/schedule-issue). You can use this directory (tinyurl.com/dvc-staff-contact-info) to access the teacher’s Zoom Room. The Connections class begins at 9:30am for all students.

Please explore the new DVC Fall 2020 Distance Learning Website (tinyurl.com/dvcwebsite) and bookmark this! We will post weekly schedules and other school-wide information there for you to access, while also sending out updates using this blog.

The first day of school is Monday, August 17th. At 9:30am, all DVC students will begin the school year by logging on to an all-school webinar using this link: https://tinyurl.com/dvcfirstday2020. Families are also welcome to attend this kick-off to the 2020-2021 school year! Student attendance will be taken through this webinar and the grade-level meeting. Students are expected to attend and use their school names in order to receive attendance credit for the first day of school.

 Following the all-school webinar, students are expected to attend a grade-level specific meeting at the times and links indicated below:

DVC Fall 2020 Distance Learning Website: To help you access all of the basic information you’ll need during distance learning, we have created a new website at https://tinyurl.com/DVCwebsite from which you can access the weekly schedule and other school resources. Please bookmark this page in your web browser!

Weekly Schedule & Student Schedules: There are two schedules for the first week of school – one for Grades 9 & 10 and another for Grades 11 & 12. Please take note that on both schedules, the first day of school consists of two webinars that you can access without needing information about your scheduled classes or the ability to log into your Da Vinci Schools accounts. You can find these schedules in this post and also at our Fall 2020 Distance Learning Website.

We sent out schedules to students and guardians on Friday afternoon. If you did not receive your schedule or if you have questions about your schedule, please kindly complete this form (DVC Schedule Change Request Fall 2020) and our counselors will review your requests as they are able, prioritizing ensuring that all students have a schedule and making adjustments to schedules as soon as all of our students have what they need to begin the first week of school.

Technology Issues: If you are having trouble logging into your accounts, please consult this Student Technology Quick Start Guide. For student technology issues with school-issued chromebooks or login troubles, please use this email address: studentsupport@davincischools.org.

We know that this is a difficult (and sometimes confusing!) way to begin a year. We appreciate your encouragement and patience, and we look forward to welcoming all of our students and families, both new and returning, on Monday morning! Who: Juniors and seniors from DVC, DVD, and DVS

What: College courses at Da Vinci, through El Camino College. Courses meet transfer requirements for all Cal State and U.C. campuses, as well as most private colleges and universities.

Why: Get a start on your college credits! It looks great on your college applications.

Cost: Free! The state of California and Da Vinci Schools pick up the costs, including textbook fees. Donations to help cover the cost of the textbooks from families that are able to are appreciated.

Where: Classes will be held virtually on El Camino College student portal due to COVID-19.

If you are interested, make sure you apply to El Camino College Fall 2020 term and email the attached completed dual enrollment form with your confirmation application number to your school counselor by Friday, August 21, 2020 by 1:00pm. After you submit your completed form, your counselor will discuss next steps on how to register for the class, classes start on Monday, August 24, 2020. To be eligible to take a dual enrollment class the students need to pass all their academic classes, have no credit recovery for a-g classes, and be a senior or junior student.

Hi DVC Families,

If you missed Monday’s pick up day, please come by between 8:30am and 12:00pm on Thursday, 8/13 so that you can pick up a school-issued chromebook and take your school picture! You can also pick up your yearbook (or purchase one as we have some extras available).

Schedules for students at Da Vinci Communications will be emailed on Friday, 8/14.
