Happy Saturday, DVC Families,

And finally, some much-needed and well-deserved relief for your students is here! Happy Thanksgiving Break!

There is no school next week and we return to a regular schedule on Monday, 11/30. There are only three weeks left in the first semester as the last day of classes for Semester 1 is Thursday, 12/17.  Please be aware that the grades that go home on report cards in December are the grades that will appear as final on a student’s transcript for first semester of this year. We have some drive-through events planned in the last three weeks, so please mark your calendars accordingly. We are looking forward to seeing as many students as possible!

Wednesday, 12/9 – 12th Grade Drive-Through Event (2pm to 4pm)

Friday, 12/11 – Last Day to Submit Late Work to Teachers

Sunday, 12/13 – Senior Portraits (Day 2 of 2)

Monday, 12/14 – PowerSchool Access Turned Off

Wednesday, 12/16 – 11th Grade Drive-Through Event (2pm to 4pm)

Thursday, 12/17 – Last Day of Semester 1

Friday, 12/18 – First Day of Winter Break for Students / Professional Development Day for Staff

Monday, 1/11 – First Day of Semester 2

Happy Sunday, DVC Families!

We are quickly approaching Thanksgiving break. We have a four-day week with classes on Wednesday and no school on Friday for students. On Friday, the teachers have a professional development day. Then, both students and staff have no school for the week of Thanksgiving (11/23 – 11/27).

In an effort to be more proactive in supporting students’ mental health, a wellness screener will be given to all students at Da Vinci Communications HS. Results from the screener will be used by the counselors to create interventions such as coping skills strategies, counselor check ins, and referrals for therapy.

Scores will not be shared with students or parents. Parents will be notified and parent consent is required if a student receives counseling services delivered by Antioch or Pepperdine therapists. If you would like your child to OPT-OUT and not do the screener, please fill out this form by Thursday, November 12, 2020.

If you are interested in purchasing your student’s school picture, you can access the photo at this link. You will need to know the name of your student’s Connections teacher in order to locate the photo. If you have questions about the name of your child’s Connections teacher, please contact Jackie Martinez at jmartinez@davincischools.org.

Reminder for the Class of 2021: Senior cap and gown photos will be taken on Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December 13th. Sign up here!

Here’s the schedule for next week. Please note that we have no school on Wednesday, 11/11 in observance of Veterans’ Day. Our Senior Committee has scheduled a special virtual game night for the Class of 2021 this Friday, 11/13 from 5pm – 6pm.

Looking ahead: We are pleased to announce that our National Honor Society will begin tutoring next Wednesday, 11/18 from 10:45 – 11:45am. This is a great opportunity for students of all grade-levels to get academic assistance from their peers. Please encourage your student to join.
