Hello DVC, some information on Softball this year!

Tryouts are Monday, 3/29 at Del Aire Park (12601 Isis Avenue). If students are interested in trying out, they are asked to email Coach Todd, tbean@davincischools.org.  Please include the student’s name, grade and position they are interested in playing in the email.  If students can not make it to the posted date, they are asked to still email Coach Todd.

Coach Todd will then email students a timeslot to come on 3/29 in order to stagger students and follow social distancing rules. Staggered times will be from after school until around 6pm.

Varsity Returning Players will return to practice 3/30 at 3:30pm at Del Aire Park.

Good Morning DVC,

The United Afro Student Organization (UASO) is hosting their 5th charity event called “A Mother’s Blessing”. For this event, the group is looking to help 30 single Black mothers who have been affected by the pandemic. They are looking to give them specialized and unique care packages that contain hygiene products, sanitary products, clothes, and non-perishable food. Please see the attached image for more information!

We are thrilled to be holding our Class of 2021 graduation in person in our gym in June! In order to meet current health and safety guidelines, the graduation will be held in six ceremonies (10am, 1pm, and 4pm) on June 8 and 9. Each graduate will be able to invite 4 guests.

The signup for graduates to select which of the six ceremonies they wish to participate in will be posted via this blog at noon this Saturday (3/27). Parents of graduates, please talk with your child about their preferences between now and then so that you can select your spot as soon as possible.

The Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at USC is conducting the Health & Media Summer Scholars program, an internship for current high school students 10th grade and up.

During this program, scholars will help design health messages & content to decrease consumption on Sports and Energy drinks and share them within their communities. The program will be virtual from mid-June to July and scholars will receive a $750 stipend for completing the program.

The highlight of last week at DVC was certainly the opportunity to connect with our students and families during Student-Led Conferences. Thank you for taking the time to meet with teachers and check-in regarding your student’s academic progress and well-being and for partnering with us in service to your student’s education. If you were unable to attend your student’s conference, please reach out to me (edsouza@davincischools.org) or one of your student’s teachers.

Thank you again to all of you who watched the presentation of our Phase II Reopening Plan earlier this week, and if you have not yet completed this survey, we encourage you to do so today. Here again are the links to the Presentation Slides and the Presentation Recording.

There have been several updates regarding athletics posted recently and spring tryouts are happening soon, so we encourage you visit www.davincischools.org/athletics to learn more, and feel free to ask any questions you have regarding athletics by emailing wdvathletics@davincischools.org.

All 9th and 10th grade DVC students will be invited and expected to attend two sessions of California Healthy Youth Act (CHYA) Webinars provided by Da Vinci Schools medical professional, Dr. Emily Green. Please see this letter from Dr. Green with more information: CHYA Parent Letter. These CHYA webinars will be held on Wednesday, 3/24 and Wednesday, 3/31 from 12-1pm. There will also be small group informational sessions throughout the week.
