Hi DVC Community,
We are so grateful to have found DVC’s new counselor, Artia Thomas, in the midst of the global pandemic. I know that I am looking for the bright spots during this uncertain time, and bringing Ms. Thomas on board was certainly one of them. Our wonderful student publication, The Vitruvian Post, interviewed her so that we could all get to know her a little better. Please check it out here: Vitruvian Post Interview with Artia Thomas by Chelsea McKinnon and Reese Gonzalez. Ms. Thomas will be the counselor for the Class of 2020 (current seniors), the Class of 2022 (current sophomores), and the incoming class of 2024 (current 8th graders).
While you’re on the VP website, please be sure to check out these student publications, too. A huge thanks to the VP for their continued publication during this time. More recent articles include:
“We’re In This Together: The Journey Down the Winding Path of Online Learning”
“‘Gentefied’ Review: They Have 99 Problems and Can’t Escape One”
“You’re Canceled! Society’s Way of Picking and Choosing”
“Social Media’s Impact on Coronavirus Perception”
This is also a time when many students are expressing themselves creatively, and the VP is a platform on which they can publish their work & share it with others. Many students will enjoy reading/seeing others’ creativity. If your student has been writing poetry, a narrative, keeping a photo diary, or expressing themselves creatively during this time, please encourage your student to submit an entry! If the piece is a sculpture or something that would be difficult to submit via email, the student can take a photo of the piece and submit it that way.
To submit, students email their entry and this release form to:
vpcreativeexpressions@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Erin
