Dear DVC Families,
It is with great pleasure that I write my first message to all of the Da Vinci Communications families! I am excited to serve you as the Principal of DVC, and I look forward to a great 2019-2020 school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at edsouza@davincischools.org or by calling the school at (310) 725-5800.
The first day of school is Monday, August 19th and school starts at 8:40am. All students (including 9th graders and transfer students) will get their schedules in their advisory class on the first day. We will have signs posted with the name of each student’s advisory, and we will assist all students in finding their way to advisory.
Here are a few changes this year at DVC:
-We have a new Principal, Erin D’Souza (formerly Assistant Principal at DV Science) and a new Assistant Principal, Andrew Daramola (formerly the US History Teacher at DVC).
-We have seven staff members new to Da Vinci this year:
Beatriz Aguilar (Algebra 2)
Steven Covelman (US History)
Janee Gerard (Chemistry)
Ashley Hapner (English 11)
Chris Miller (Student Success Coordinator)
Tim Regalado (Special Education)
Sarah Taylor (Special Education)
–We have a new weekly schedule, in which classes begin at 8:40am Monday – Thursday and 9:35am on Fridays. School will end at 3:45pm every day. Students will have a longer break after their first class to allow time for a breakfast snack, and before their seminar to give them more time to transition and change clothes if necessary. See below for a typical week’s schedule. Closer to August 19th, I will post the schedule for the first week of school.
I am looking forward to a great year at DVC! Enjoy the remaining days of summer.
Sincerely,
Erin D’Souza
Principal
