Happy Sunday, DVC Families,
We are already more than halfway through the semester and inching closer and closer to Thanksgiving break! As we approach the end of the semester, we are beginning to evaluate our end-of-semester Presentations of Learning, and we invite you to fill out a brief survey so that we can incorporate your thoughts and experiences into our planning.
Presentations of Learning (POLs): DVC has traditionally run Presentations of Learning (known as POLs) at the end of each semester for all grade-levels. During this presentation, students demonstrate their growth over time and mastery of academic content in a formal presentation before a panel of their teachers. POLs are individual student presentations. At the conclusion of the student’s presentation, their teachers ask questions and offer feedback and support for the next steps. We have yet to design how POLs will look this semester, and we are seeking your input! Please share your experience with DVC staff in this survey so that we can make decisions that include your voice.
Student Mental Health: We know that this time of year can be especially difficult for students, and we continue to be concerned about their mental health. If you are concerned about the mental health of your child, please reach out to our school counselors. You can find their contact information as well as other resources at their website. I also recommend checking out the resources at previously posted in this DVC blog post: Parent Training re: Suicide Prevention
Wishing you a safe and healthy week ahead,
Erin
