Week 3
We had a fantastic time at our annual Overnighter! The Class of 2029 showed their energy, teamwork, and unique personalities at camp, with the help of our fantastic Wolf Pack Leaders, staff, and a few superhero friends. We were so excited to welcome our 9th grade students to Da Vinci Communications in our unique way! Mr. Clarke, DVC Media Production teacher, created an amazing photo/video slideshow of this year’s experience: DVC Class of 2029 Overnighter Slideshow
Shelter-in-Place Drill: The Da Vinci high schools located at the 201 N. Douglas location (including DVC) will be participating in a Shelter-in-Place Drill on Tuesday, September 2nd. Shelter-in-Place drills are designed to educate students and staff and to provide practice opportunities for what to initially do in the event of an on-campus or nearby emergency that requires a lockdown.
Club Fair: Our annual Club Fair is coming up on Thursday, 9/4. All clubs who have submitted applications will be informed of their approval from school administration and invited to a Club Leaders’ Informational Meeting on Tuesday, 9/2. Clubs are not considered approved unless the student leader receives an approval email from school administration.
Make Up Photos: All students who did not take a photo on the earlier photo days will have make up photos on Tuesday, September 16th from 8:30-9:30.
Seminar Changes: All students have been enrolled in seminar classes. If a student would like to request a seminar change, they can use this form: DVC Schedule Change Request Form. We will do our best to accommodate as many requests as possible. The form is only accessible by students through their DV google account. Students are required to attend the classes they are assigned unless they are given a new schedule by school staff. All change requests must be submitted by Friday, 9/5.
Absence Reporting Reminder: If your student is going to be absent, please fill out the Absence Reporting form.
Metro Passes: Da Vinci Schools is participating in LA Metro’s GoPass Program again this year! This means any DVC student can receive a free Metrocard that, once activated, will allow them to ride on the Metro at no cost until June 30th. Students can pick up a card and instructions to activate their card from Jackie Martinez (jmartinez@davincischools.org) at the DVC Front Desk. Here is more information on the GoPass Program if you are interested.
