Effective Tuesday, September 3, 2024, DVC is implementing a new Cell Phone & Personal Electronics Policy. You can see the entire policy at this link.
The most important piece of the policy to understand is this: Any cell phone that is seen during instructional time will be confiscated (no warnings) and turned into administration for parent/guardian pick up.
Here’s a brief synopsis of the policy:
- Cell phone use is not permitted during instructional time, both in the classroom and on breaks.
- Cell phones must be silent and out of sight. Keeping phones in backpacks is best.
- Students are asked to turn in their phones when leaving the classroom during instructional time.
- Any cell phone that is seen during instructional time will be confiscated and turned into administration for parent/guardian pick up.
- Cell phone use is not permitted in school restrooms; recording people in bathrooms is against the law!
- Phones are allowed before school and after school, during passing periods, and during lunch.
- Activities such as taking photos/videos without permission or engaging in inappropriate communications (including bullying, harassment, or sharing of inappropriate content) are strictly prohibited and will be addressed in accordance with Da Vinci Schools disciplinary policies.
By adhering to these guidelines, students contribute to a positive and productive learning environment at DVC. Our overall goal is for responsible digital citizenship and academic success. We appreciate your cooperation and partnership.
Sincerely,
Erin D’Souza, Principal
Andrew Daramola, Assistant Principal
