Hello Parents and Class of 2022 Students!

Here is an incredible opportunity for Seniors who are considering applying to Private Universities. Questbridge has announced a program for Seniors called The National College Match in which Seniors are matched with a Private University (see their list of college partners here: QuestBridge College Partners) and receive a 4-year scholarship (yes, a full ride!). The application deadline is September 28th and students will be notified on December 1st if they are matched with a college. Here are some of the eligibility requirements for applying:

• Family income of $65,000 or less for a family of 4
• Student has primarily A’s in challenging courses
• Student demonstrates strong writing skills and intellectual curiosity
• Student holds leadership roles & is involved in extracurricular activities (part-time jobs and taking care of siblings are considered extracurricular activities for this scholarship)
• Undocumented students are welcome to apply
• Students MUST commit to one Private University if they are matched
• Student has the choice of applying to any 45 colleges with one application (can only select 12 colleges out of the 45)

QuestBridge | National College Match: Who Should Apply

Welcome (and welcome back), DVC Families!

We are excited to bring our students on campus tomorrow for their first day of school. Students should be dropped off between 8:00am and 8:30am at 201 N. Douglas St. El Segundo, CA 90245. School starts at 8:30am, and we will begin with an all-school outdoor assembly in the West Plaza (i.e. the backyard area under the white tents). When students arrive, they will be directed to go under the white tents. As a reminder, students will get their schedules during their Advisory classes which will be the first class of the day. We will have signs posted with information about each student’s Advisory teacher.

The DVC website (tinyurl.com/dvcwebsite) is up-to-date with lots of useful resources for you. Please go there and check out the links, including the link to our Back to School Webinar Recording if you missed it. And finally, please make sure that students wear their masks tomorrow. All students are required to be masked while indoors, and all eating must take place outdoors.

This message is to inform you that there will be a service dog in our school assisting one of our students. This service dog is a trained companion for the student and is able to assist him/her in many of the daily routines while learning at school.

This certified service dog is trained and the student’s right to have a certified service dog is protected under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (“Section 504”) and therefore can be with the handler in all aspects of their education.
