Boeing Internship Informational Meeting

Boeing is offering information sessions that provide a high-level overview of their Summer Engineering Program. This opportunity is open to students who are US Citizens entering their senior year in the fall of 2023 that are enrolled in an engineering or computer science pathway. The session will include information on mentor/mentee expectations, as well as a Q&A session.  If you would like to attend, please fill out this form to receive the calendar invitation and zoom link.

Announcements From Real World Learning Director (2.27.2023)

For students interested in exploring cyber security and IT: 

Join the IT Academy Powered by Microsoft! LA-Tech.org has partnered with Microsoft to bring you this incredible opportunity to get PAID while learning, earning certifications, and working with amazing companies like Microsoft. This program is 12 weeks and requires a commitment of 10 to 15 hours a week. You will be required to attend zoom sessions every Tuesday and Thursday with the majority of sessions starting at 4 pm. The priority deadline is Sunday, April 2, 2023. To apply, please click here. 

For students interested in business and technology: 

The Fika Tech Career Academy starts in the Fall of 2023. Students will have the opportunity to learn from companies such as Roblox, Snapchat Inc, Facebook, and more. This is a paid opportunity that allows students to build their portfolios with industry-driven projects. Students must be committed to joining virtual sessions every week and comfortable with independent work. The deadline to apply is July 6, 2023. To apply, please click here. 

The Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship (KKCF) is cofounded by Hip Hop Artist French Montana and supports youth interested in STEM. Through a 12-month fellowship program, Fellows will complete 80 hours of summer curriculum to prepare them for college, the future of work, and STEM careers, while participating in monthly career workshops throughout the academic year. During the summer months, Fellows will participate in six weeks of summer instruction, then receive monthly career coaching sessions and workshops. Fellows will use industry-standard technologies to learn how to create a brand, understand selling, create a proper wireframe, basic HTML & CSS coding, and more. To learn more, please click here. College & Career Rep Visits This Week (2/27-3/3)

Here are the list of college/career reps that will be visiting DVC during lunch this week:

  • Tuesday, February 28th@ 11:45 am: El Segundo Police Department Cadet Program
  • Thursday, March 2nd @ 11:45 am: Grand Canyon University

All college rep visits will take place in Mr. Jackson’s room (3203), no sign-ups are required to attend. Students are able to grab lunch after the presentation as I will give out excuse slips to extend their lunch time.

DVC Students of all grade levels (9-12) can attend the college rep visits.

Week 25 Schedule

Yesterday we had a beautiful celebration of Black People’s Impact on the Arts during our CD led by our Black Student Union! Check out the highlight reel on Instagram. Da Vinci has an active presence on Instagram and we encourage you to follow the following accounts:

Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) will take place starting Monday, March 13th! It is expected that every student has an SLC with their parent/guardian during this week. An email with a sign-up link will be sent out from the Grade-Level Homeroom Teacher on Monday, February 27th. We encourage families to sign up for our in-person conferences. We are offering three days of in-person conferences and one day of Zoom conferences. Please reserve the virtual (Zoom) conferences for families that have no other option and require a virtual meeting. Here are the general dates and times for our conferences:

IN PERSON, ON CAMPUS SLCs: 

  • Monday, March 13th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM
  • Tuesday, March 14th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM
  • Wednesday, March 15th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM

VIRTUAL THROUGH ZOOM SLCs:

  • Thursday, March 16h from 2:00 – 3:40 PM
