DVC Families, today was our first “Exhibition Prep” Day for students in grades 9-11, and the special energy of Exhibition is already in the air.  We look forward to this special event in just two weeks.  This week is another 4 day week, as we celebrate the Veterans’ Day Holiday on Wednesday, November 11th. To all who serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces and to the families who support them, we are grateful for your service.

Exhibition: Dear Families, we are excited to invite you to our Exhibition on Wednesday, November 18th from 5:30-7:00! Grades 9-11 will be exhibiting their work this fall.  This year, your “entrance ticket” is a gift to our community: please bring one or more non-perishable canned food items to donate to our canned food drive if you are able.  Canned vegetables, soups, beans, fruits, and proteins like tuna or chicken are all wonderful choices. Please check that items are unexpired and unopened. Every can helps a neighbor in need, and we are grateful for your generosity. We can’t wait to see you and celebrate our students’ hard work!

Thanksgiving Gratitude Week: As we approach the Thanksgiving season, we are especially grateful for the incredible people who make Da Vinci Communications such a special place. From our teachers and counselors to our paraeducators, custodians, and front office team, our staff works hard every day to support our students and school community. To show our appreciation, we are organizing Gratitude Baskets for all 60 DVC staff members! On Friday, November 20, each staff member will receive a gift bag filled with snacks, treats, words of appreciation from students and families, and a gift card.  All donations are due by November 18th.  Please see here for more details.

“Press Submit” Day: DVC’s College and Career Readiness team is hosting our annual “Press Submit Day” on November 20th! We would love to extend the invitation for families, teachers, and staff to stop by and celebrate with us if you are available!  During this event, seniors will submit their UCs, Cal States, Privates, and/or Community college applications. Feel free to rep any college/university gear you have to show support to our seniors as they navigate this pivotal milestone.

This event will take place on DVC 3rd floor, in Mr. Jackson’s room during periods 1-4. Please talk to your student about what period/time they have College and Career Readiness on November 20th. Please contact Ms. Williams at jawilliams@davincischools.org if you have any questions or concerns!

Progress Reports: Progress reports were mailed home on Monday, 11/2. Please follow up with your student’s teachers directly with any questions about assignments or grades.

College Rep Visits: Interested in learning more about a college or university? College rep visits take place in Mr. Jackson’s room at lunchtime.  This week features:

  • Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) – Friday, November 13th

Fall Family & Student Survey:  Our Da Vinci Fall Survey has been extended until November 15th.  You will receive a text and email with your personalized survey link. To take the survey, you will need to click the link from the text or email and respond to the questions.  Your feedback is valued and appreciated.

Absence Reporting Reminder: If a student is going to be absent, parents should fill out the Absence Form.  After this is filled out, students can fill out the STIS Form in order to recover and clear this absence.

Tutoring: By popular demand, Tutor Alex is returning for another year of tutoring at DVC!  Tutoring in all subject areas (except pathways and art) is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30-4:30 in room 3205 (Sandoval).
