Week 32 Updates for Families

Our 11th grade students had an eventful week as they completed state testing for the CAASPP and CAST tests.  Thank you to our Juniors for showing up ready for “Game Time!”  They were focused and working hard to demonstrate their proficiency.  A milestone was also reached with our final Community Learning Day of the year this past Friday. We are excited for our Senior prom this week on May 1st, and for Staff Appreciation Week the following week!

 

Final Community Learning Day Learning Logs: We had the last CLD day this past Friday, April 24th.  Please make sure your student completes their learning log for credit!  We will be following up on this in Advisory this week.

Prom: Join us for a “Swan Lake Soiree” this Friday, May 1st at Skirball Center 7:00-11:00 pm. All students in attendance must be in good academic standing and maintain positive attendance.  Please keep traffic on the 405 in mind for a timely arrival.

Staff Appreciation Week (May 4-8)

Dear DVC Families, it’s almost time for Staff Appreciation Week!  This year’s Staff Appreciation Week is May 4th-8th.  Our theme this year is “We Love Our Staff Week” with a different theme for each day.  Please see below for information on how to participate in the celebration.

The DVC Admin will provide a meal for DVC Staff! 

Thankful Thursday (5/7)
Let’s celebrate the DVC staff with gratitude and encouragement. You can either:

  2. Send in a handwritten thank you note with your student.  We will collect these at our front desk to give out on Thursday, May 7th!

Funds Friday (5/8)
We will close the week by celebrating our staff members with a gift card. How to participate: DONATE HERE – Select “02 Da Vinci Communications” and note that it’s for Staff Appreciation!  Any amount is appreciated.  We are suggesting a $10 donation to keep it affordable.  

We appreciate your generosity!

 

Tutoring: Does your student need additional academic support?  Tutoring in all subject areas (except pathways and art) is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:35-4:30 in room 3205 (Sandoval).  See the flyer here for more information!

Week 31 Updates

It’s “game time” for our Juniors as they take the CAASPP and CAST tests this week, and we also have our next PAC meeting on Thursday, and the final Community Learning Day of the year this Friday.  Looking forward to a great week!

 

Wear a Jersey for “Game Time” on Monday, 4/20! Let’s support our 11th grade students as they take the CAASPP and CAST state tests this week.  We are encouraging our students to “get their heads into the game” as they prepare to do their best on these assessments!  We encourage students to wear your favorite team’s jersey on Monday!

State Testing: All students in 11th grade will take the CAASPP tests (also known as the SBAC) in English and Math, as well as the CAST Science test.  Students will take these tests this week from Monday, April 20th – Thursday, April 23rd.  Please see here for more information on these tests and how to support your student.

Parent Advisory Committee Meeting: We have our fourth PAC meeting of the year on Thursday, April 23rd  @4:30pm (Zoom link) from 4:30-5:30pm.  At this meeting, we will be looking at LCAP goals 3, 4, and 5.

Community Learning Day:  The fourth (and final) Community Learning Day (CLD) of the year will take place on Friday, April 24.  See here for a list of descriptions.  As a reminder, ALL students must complete the CLD attendance quiz on Canvas.

FREE Prom Dresses!

Hi All,

El Camino College received a large donation of prom dresses and are giving them out for FREE for any senior in need of a prom dress. If you are interested in taking a look at what they have, please email Mrs. Aldrete (maldrete@davincischools.org) so that she can set a time to visit El Camino College.

 

 

 

Week 30 Updates for Families

DVC Families, thanks for a great week after Spring Break!  We are excited for this month’s events, including Career Day, our final CLD Day, PAC Meeting, and a 9th Grade college field trip to Cal Poly Pomona & UCLA!

State Testing: All students in 11th grade will take the CAASPP tests (also known as the SBAC) in English and Math, as well as the CAST Science test.  Students will take these tests the week of Monday, April 20th – Thursday, April 23rd.  Please see here for more information on these tests and how to support your student.

Family CFO Series #4: Workshop 4 of the Family CFO Training Series is this Thursday, April 16th at 6:00 P.M. in DVC room 3203.  WORKSHOP 4 TOPIC:  Investment Fundamentals – “Your money should work as hard as you do. Tonight, we put it to work.”

We will cover how to invest in your retirement accounts, what to buy and avoid, and the one fee that costs most families $180,000 over their careers without them ever noticing. Sign Up Link: Click HERE.
