It’s the last week of school!  After a year of hard work, new opportunities, and growth, let’s finish this week strong.  All students are expected to attend school during scheduled hours this week.  Our seniors have graduation practice and then, graduation this week!  Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

 

Powerschool: Access to Powerschool has been turned off so that teachers can finalize grades.  Grades will be updated by Friday, June 12th, and records will be sent out.

Senior Breakfast & Graduation Practice: Seniors have Senior Breakfast from 9:00-10:30 in the Black Box, with Grad Practice beginning promptly at 10:30 in the gym.  Attendance is mandatory.

Presentations of Learning (POLs) Our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders finish Presentations of Learning (POLs) this week! POLs give students the opportunity to develop their speaking and presentation skills and are an opportunity for students to reflect publicly on their learning. You can read all the schoolwide POL policies HERE. Here are a few important notes about POLs:

Graduation Info: Date, Yard Signs, RSVP, Notices

    • Commencement for the Class of 2026 will be on June 11th 2026, at 1:00 P.M. in the Da Vinci Schools Gym.  
    • All tickets are digital, and 12 tickets are allotted per student.  Seating assignments will be sent to guests who have RSVP’d this week.
    • Parents of Seniors have been emailed for graduation RSVP information.  If you have not received this email, please contact Mr. Daramola (adaramola@davincischools.org) as soon as possible.
  • Class of 2026 Yard signs are available for pickup from DVC!  Please see the Front Office to pick up your sign.
  • We are proud to announce this year’s graduation honorees:
    • Valedictorian: Cornelius Lucey
    • Student Choice Speaker: Deon Radcliff
    • DVC Citizen Award Winner: Djamal Bongo Schultz
    • Staff Speaker: Janeé Gerard

Presentation Attire: Students are expected to dress in professional attire, detailed as follows:

    • Button-down dress shirt (shirt must be tucked in) or or non-revealing blouse (must cover shoulders); Suit jacket (optional)
    • Khaki pants or dress pants (no jeans); Dress or skirt that touches tops of knees when standing up straight
    • Closed-toe dress shoes (no sneakers or excessively high heels)
    • Hair should not cover the face
    • In need of professional attire?  Please reach out to Ms. Jackie (jmartinez@davincischools.org) 
  • POLs are a serious academic environment where students are actively presenting.  If possible, please refrain from early pick up of your student, as this is disruptive to this environment, as they must be called from their class. Thank you!

Summer School: 

  • Students and families are being notified by counselors if Summer School will be required for your student.  Summer School at DVC is offered for students who need Credit Recovery, and is done in person.  The first day of Summer Session 1 is Tuesday, June 16th.

Attendance and STIS Forms: Dear Parents and Guardians, as shared during our Back to School Night, our school set a goal of reaching 96% attendance this year, which means each student could have only 7 absences throughout the year. We are currently at 94.4%, and every day counts as we approach the end of the school year.  One important way families can help us reach this goal is by supporting students in completing any missing STIS forms. 

As a reminder, when a student is absent:

  1. A parent/guardian should email Pattie (pfoxman@davincischools.org) to excuse the absence
  2. The student should submit a Short-Term Independent Study (STIS) form to document the learning completed while out of school

We appreciate your support in encouraging students to complete any missing STIS forms in a timely and detailed way. Students may also stop by the front office to see Mrs. Adriana for support or sign up for STIS Support Flex Block if they need help.  Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to finish the year strong!
