Week 22 Schedule

This week kicked off Black History Month! Our Black Student Union decorated our common areas and designed an installation on display in the atrium on the first floor in collaboration with BSUs from other campuses. We will have our annual Black History Month Community Dialogue on Thursday, 2/20 with performances recognizing and honoring Black History Month.

Also this week, 11th graders visited 3 colleges (Cal Poly Pomona, Loyola Marymount, and USC), and the USC trip had special tours and presentations based on which pathway course students are taking. We also had our first Parent Advisory Committee Meeting! If you missed it, feel free to check out the slides here and join us via zoom or in-person on Tuesday, 2/18. CLD Day on Monday, 2/10: On Monday, 2/10, there is a Community Learning Day (CLD). Students have the option to come to school from 8:30am – 12:30pm OR plan their own day off-campus (i.e. work on schoolwork at home or do something educational like visit a museum) if they have a signed and returned off-campus independent learning permission slip. ALL students (whether they are on campus or at home) must fill out this Community Learning Day Attendance Form to receive attendance credit. As a reminder, these forms can only be accessed by students through their davincischools account.

Student-Led Conferences – NEW DATES: We are moving our Student-Led Conferences Week to the week of Monday, March 3rd! This means that information about signing up for your student’s conference will be coming out very shortly – stay tuned! Blood Drive on Monday, 2/24: Sign up HERE for the Red Cross Blood Drive organized by DVC’s National Honor Society! The event will take place in the Wiseburn-Da Vinci Gym Skybox.

(Seniors) 25-26 Earl Woods Scholarship NOW OPEN!

Hello Class of 2025!

TGR Foundation is excited to extend the opportunity and invite your high school seniors to apply for the 2025-2026 Earl Woods scholarship.

 

The Earl Woods Scholar Program was created in 2006 to honor the vision and spirit of Earl Woods, Tiger’s father, and mentor, to continue his legacy of caring and sharing. The program goes far beyond financial assistance. Holding one of the highest graduation rates among scholarship programs in the country, our unique program is committed to ensuring every scholar is supported throughout their time in college and beyond. Once selected, our scholars receive continued guidance throughout college with mentorship, personal and professional development workshops, and internship placement assistance to ensure our scholars succeed and graduate with their bachelor’s degree.

 

The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, Class of 2025, in select schools in the Los Angeles area with a minimum 3.0 GPA that have plans to enroll full-time in an accredited four-year university in the United States in the upcoming academic year. Successful candidates will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated financial need and a proven commitment to community service.

 

Our application is available online. Please share the attached document with students who you believe are eligible to apply for the scholarship. It provides a general overview of the scholar program, eligibility requirements and documents to gather prior to starting the application. Students will also find the link to the application and can click on “Apply Today” or use the QR code to apply. The application is due by March 11, 2025.

 

Selected recipients will receive a scholarship of up to $5,000 (renewable for up to four years) and will be provided with holistic student support throughout their college career. Finalists will need to be available for an in-person interview in April 2025. Recipients will be announced in May.

 

Cupid Shuffle Dance Canceled

Attention DVC students and families:

We have made the decision to cancel the Cupid Shuffle Dance scheduled for Friday, February 7th.

We know the students were excited about the event, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience. If you’ve already bought a ticket, a refund will be issued.

National School Counseling Week

This week is National School Counseling Week! We are happy to celebrate the great work of our counseling team. This year’s theme is about how school counselors help students thrive. Please take a moment to send them an email with your gratitude during this special week!

Week 21 Schedule

DVC’s first-ever Neurodiversity Celebration Week was a success! It was a week dedicated to uplifting the neurodivergent community by amplifying their voices, debunking myths, and highlighting the strengths associated with disabilities. A huge thank you to the students who bravely shared their stories, organized engaging and informative events, and to the staff who created safe spaces for meaningful discussions during advisory lessons. 

Also this week, 11th graders in Computer Science hosted a Da Vinci Mobile App Showcase and 12th graders in Marketing and Journalism participated in The Situation Room Experience at the Reagan Library. Senior Activities Club and Senior Committee collaborated on an important event and reminder to the seniors called “Donut Panic,” where they distributed donuts to seniors and reminded them that things are going to turn out ok during this stressful time of figuring out next steps after high school.

No School on Friday, 2/7 & CLD Day on Monday, 2/10: Friendly reminder that there is no school on Friday, 2/7 due to Professional Development. On Monday, 2/10, there is a Community Learning Day (CLD). All students are expected to complete THIS CLD SURVEY indicating if they are planning to be on-campus or off-campus on Monday, 2/10. ALL students (whether they are on campus or at home) must fill out this Community Learning Day Attendance Form to receive attendance credit. School Dance on Friday, 2/7: Da Vinci is excited to host “The Cupid Shuffle”—this year’s Spring Dance—on Friday, February 7th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a sensory-friendly hour from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Purchase your tickets HERE as soon as possible. More details can be found at this blog post.

Parent Advisory Committee Meeting on Tuesday, 2/4: Please join us at our first Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting on Tuesday, February 1st at 5pm! We will be meeting both in-person on the 1st floor (Mona Lisa Room) and virtually on zoom (ZOOM LINK HERE).
