Week 27 Schedule

We loved connecting with our families this week both in-person and virtually at our Student-Led Conferences! We know that it’s hard to disrupt the routine and step away from your own responsibilities; thank you for working together in partnership for the academic success and well-being of your child. Check out some great pics from Monday’s SLCs!

  • Exhibition Night: We look forward to seeing our families on campus again on Wednesday, March 27th from 5:30 – 7:00pm for Exhibition Night! Our 9th and 11th grade students will be showcasing their projects. All DVC students are expected to attend, and all families and community members are encouraged to attend! We are especially looking forward to inviting our Class of 2028 to check out their new school on this special evening.

 

 

  • DECA State Career Development Conference: You can follow DVC DECA students at their competition in Anaheim by following @dvcdeca on Instagram for updates! They’ve already won an award and we’re so proud of them!

 

  • SmartPass Launch: We are switching to a digital pass system (no more handwritten passes and lanyards – yay!) and we are going to launch this new system schoolwide on Thursday, March 14th! The original launch date was Monday, March 11th, but we are going to allow additional time for teachers to review information with their classes before we launch.   • Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week Planning Session: Please join us via zoom on Monday, 3/11 at 4:30pm to brainstorm plans for teacher and staff appreciation week in May! We would love your ideas and assistance in planning a special week for the DVC team.

 

  • No School this Friday, 3/15: Just a reminder that this is a four-day week and we have no school on Friday, 3/15 due to Professional Development for staff. We are also closed on Friday, 3/29 and the following week (4/1 – 4/5) for spring break.

We look forward to seeing our families this week during Student-Led Conferences! Thank you for signing up and thank you for participating in this important signature practice. Please be sure to stop by the Real World Learning Station, where you will be able to check out a host of awesome Spring and Summer Opportunities for students! You can also review these pre-collegiate opportunities for students in grades 9, 10, or 11 or sign up for the Da Vinci Schools Trades Fair on March 28th. We look forward to working together to support all students towards success in high school and beyond!

 

Here’s what’s coming up this week:

 

  • Coffee with the Principals: Please join us @ 9am (in-person @ DVC) or 4pm (via Zoom – link here). Our agenda will include campus highlights, upcoming events, a focus on teens and social media, and time for Q&A. 

 

  • The SAT Test @ DVC on Wednesday, 3/6  (11th Grade): Our 11th grade students will take the SAT on Wednesday, March 6th! DVC is covering the cost of the test for 11th grade students. Though not all 4-year colleges require SAT scores for admission, there are still many colleges and scholarships that require the submission of SAT or ACT scores. On Wednesday, students should bring the following; a snack/drink for their break, an approved calculator (phone calculators not acceptable), and pencils (No. 2 required). If you have questions about the test administration, please contact Andrew Daramola, Assistant Principal (adaramola@davincischools.org). 

 

  • DECA State Career Development Conference: Our Marketing Pathway includes an option to join DVC’s DECA Chapter and participate in competitions against other high schools involving role-plays and case studies, prepared events and online simulations. We wish our DVC DECA students much luck at their competition in Anaheim which begins on Thursday, 3/7 and continues through the weekend! Follow @dvcdeca on Instagram for updates!

Week 25 Schedule

Friday was a special day at DVC, from our awesome celebration of Black culture at our Black History Month CD to our Spring Semi-Formal! Special thanks to the Black Student Union (BSU) for putting on such an engaging, informative, and fun production. Special thanks to DVC’s Leadership for everything that went into making this dance a success!

There are two events coming up this week that we’d love to see families at:

  • Parent Advisory Committee Meeting on Monday, 2/26: Parents, students, and staff are welcome to attend our Parent Advisory Committee on Monday, 2/26 at 4:30pm in person (1st floor, Mona Lisa Room) or via this zoom link. We invite you to join us as we discuss what we’ve been doing this year to support our multilingual learners and how we can continue to improve in this area. We will also be reviewing our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) – Goal 2 and Mid-Year Update.  Please see below for the agenda:

  • Photography Exhibition on Wednesday, 2/28: Please support DVC students as they showcase their photography at El Segundo Public Library (111 W Mariposa Ave) from 5:30 – 7:30pm!
