FREE College Fairs in September

1.LAUSD Region South College & Career Fair- Saturday, September 27th (9am-1pm)

Students and families are invited attend the annual LAUSD Region South College & Career Fair taking place on Saturday, September 27th, from 9 AM – 1 PM, at the CSU Domínguez Hills campus. This is the 28th year of the event.

Representatives from over 80 colleges to be in attendance, including HBCUs, will be there to provide students and families with a wealth of information on their respective institutions. Tours of the CSUDH campus will also be available as well as many workshops on applications, financial aid, and more. All grades are welcome!

2. California State University (CSU) College Night- Monday, September 29th (6pm-8pm)

On Monday, September 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. come to the Pasadena Convention Center and meet representatives from across the CSU. This event is free and open to high school and community college students, returning students, adult learners, and their families. Parents, guardians, and educators are encouraged to attend and be part of this journey.

At CSU Night you will:

Meet and connect with representatives from all 22 CSU campuses
Learn how to best prepare for CSU freshman and transfer admissions
Get tips on completing your Cal State Apply application
Discover resources to help pay for college
Take a picture with a CSU mascot or two

TONIGHT: 11th & 12th Grade College and Career Parent Nights

Reminder that TODAY we are hosting our 11th grade and 12th grade College and Career Parent Info Nights. 11th grade will be virtual (see flyer below for zoom link) and 12th grade will be in-person.

11th grade families are welcome to attend the 12th grade parent presentation in order to prepare for senior year!

Week 4 Updates

Week 4

This past week at school featured our annual Club Fair! We had over 30 clubs represented at the fair, all of which are student-led, ranging from Friendship Club to Ball Knowledge Club, Girls Who Code and Boys to Men, Philosophy and Art Club, and more! A special thank you goes to all of our student leaders for their preparation and enthusiasm. Please see more pictures below, taken by our Graphic Communications and Photography teacher, Mr. Albans!

Parent Signups for Staff Meetings: A separate email will go out to parents about this item, so please check that for more details. One of the reasons why DVC is able to be such a wonderful learning environment is that we prioritize staff meeting and collaborative time. If you’d be interested in providing a snack for staff members on Wednesday meetings as a pick-me-up, please check out this link. We are thankful for your generosity!

Tutoring: By popular demand, Tutor Alex is returning for another year of tutoring at DVC! Tutoring in all subject areas (except pathways and art) is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:35-4:30 in room 3205 (Sandoval). See the flyer here for more information!

Professional Development Day: As a reminder, there is no school for students on Friday, September 12^th.

Make Up Photos: All students who did not take a photo on the earlier photo days will have make up photos on Tuesday, September 16th from 8:30-9:30.

Class of 2026 Senior Portraits: There are two more dates in September (9/13 and 9/14) for seniors to take their portraits with Stacee! See more information in this flyer, and sign up for a session here.

Work Permits: Any student who is employed and working is legally required to have a valid work permit. If your student is currently employed or planning to begin work, please make sure they obtain one from Lolita Go (room 3206). Work permits can be requested directly through Lolita—please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance with the process. Additionally, if students are interested in working during seminar time, they will need to be enrolled in the Work Experience Seminar. This ensures that students receive credit for their employment experience and that their schedules are aligned with school expectations. Thank you for your support in helping students balance school and work successfully. Please contact Lolita with any questions about work permits or seminar enrollment through email at lgo@davincischools.org.

Absence Reporting Reminder: If your student is going to be absent, please fill out the Absence Reporting form.

Metro Passes: Da Vinci Schools is participating in LA Metro’s GoPass Program again this year! This means any DVC student can receive a free Metrocard that, once activated, will allow them to ride on the Metro at no cost until June 30th. Students can pick up a card and instructions to activate their card from Jackie Martinez (jmartinez@davincischools.org) at the DVC Front Desk.
