Hello DVC Class of 2023, 2024, and 2025,

DVC will hosting our last Summer College Prep Workshop day this Wednesday, July 13 from 12:00 pm-2:15 pm. We will be hosting workshops about:

• Solidifying Your College List (Hosted by Amy Hernandez & Adrian Flores, Class of 2022)
• Scholarships (Hosted by Ms. Aldrete)
• Dual Enrollment (Hosted by El Camino College Dual Enrollment Office)
• Self-Care (Hosted by Ms. Thomas)

Registration is required if a student plans on attending this week’s College Prep Workshop Day. These workshops will be in-person at DVC. Students cannot choose which workshop they want to attend, they are highly encouraged to stay for the whole workshop day. There is a limit of 35 students per session: REGISTER HERE.

Hello Da Vinci Scholars and Families,

The STEAM Education Club for Girls is offering three virtual summer camps for female-identifying students to attend. The speakers are industry leaders who work at Honda, Car and Driver, Starbucks, University of Washington CoMotion Lab, Carvana, INDYCAR, Laguna Seca Raceway, USAA, Motivo Engineering, Shell, Navy, Pratt & Whitney and more.

FABcamp: July 6-31
Land+Sea+Air Transportation Camp: July 25-29
Career Dev Camp: August 1-5

Students that are 18 years or older have an opportunity to apply for paid and remote micro-internships through Parker Dewey. To apply, you must sign up for a Career Launcher account. You’ll then be prompted to fill out your profile and then you will be able to apply for our available projects.

DVC 10th – 12th grade students, and the Class of 2022,  can access their Da Vinci Communications transcript using Parchment!

Students please be sure to log-in using your Da Vinci Communications email address. 

 Parchment provides you with the ability to request official transcripts online and have them sent electronically and securely to  colleges, universities, or scholarship programs that you select.  You can also send them to yourself!  After you make your request, your official high school transcript will be processed.  When your request has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation. Ken Blanchard Companies is currently looking for high school students rising to Grades 9-12 in the 2022-2023 school year to participate in the first offering of the Student Self Leadership Collaborative Online. This class teaches how to have the mindset and skillset to get what you need to succeed.  Applications are due June 30th.  In the referral line, please put “Desiree Saddler/Da Vinci Communications”.

What’s involved?

• Attend a live, virtual Orientation on July 11th

• Complete self-study mini-lessons over 6 weeks, about 1 hour per week

• Participate in 6 additional live, virtual classes once a week

  • Thursdays at 10:00am and 4:00pm PDT ​

• Provide feedback to the course developers through surveys and possibly focus groups to help make improvements for future classes

• Allow developers to use your user-generated content and image in future marketing and development efforts

What’s in it for you?

• Receive a completion certificate and digital badge that you can share on social media and use when applying to jobs or to college

• Be one of the first people to get access to this life-changing content in this format
