Happy Tuesday DVC,

This is a friendly reminder that all UC Applications are due today before 11:59 pm. Most CSUs also have the application deadline of 11/30 while other CSUs have the extended their deadline to 12/15. It is important that students check deadlines to ensure timely submission. FYI, DVC does not grant fee waivers for UCs and CSUs, fee waivers for these colleges are granted by the UC and CSU system and are based on the applicant’s reported parent annual income and household size for 2020.

If you’re planning on attending any college/university (community college, trade school, 4-year public/private university) please make sure to submit your FAFSA application as soon as possible in order to increase eligibility for scholarships and grants.

I will be available today anytime from 10:30-1:30 pm and afterschool 3:40-4:15 for drop-in hours to help students with the UC and CSU applications.

Happy Thursday DVC!

The Virtual HBCU Summit Series is back! Make sure you register for one of the dates to attend the HBCU Summit. Students will get an opportunity to speak with lots of HBCU Representatives about the many opportunities of attending an HBCU, Apply and get accepted on the spot to some of the HBCUs participating, attend the various workshops including the HBCU 101 Experience Seminar!

There is nothing like the HBCU Experience! The HBCU Summit Series is designed to expand awareness of the Black College Experience as well as education, career, and financial aid opportunities for students and their families.

The HBCU Summit Series dates:

Time: 9:00AM PST – 2:00PM PST

ALL students are welcomed to attend the HBCU Summit Series!! We highly recommend Middle School, High School and Community College students!

Hello DVC,

Happy Monday! There are no college visits this week however, there are two important reminders to announce:

1.  DVC’s UC Applications submission deadline is this Wednesday, November 17th. I will be pulling out students on Wednesday during their College and Career Readiness class to do a final UC Application check and/or submit their UC Applications. For those students who don’t have their College and Career Readiness class that day, feel free to stop by my office during period 3A (UC Application Drop-In Hours) so I can look over your applications. The official deadline for CSUs/UCs is November 30th, but I’m giving this early deadline to Seniors to ensure we are available to answer all their questions since Thanksgiving Break is next week.
2. Please submit your FAFSA! FAFSA opened on October 1st and some colleges have a first-come first-serve basis for campus scholarships.
