Priority Application Deadline for New TK-12th Grade Students is Feb. 28th

The Priority Application Deadline for new Da Vinci students entering grades TK-12 in the 2022-23 school year is February 28th.

While most campus visits have been suspended due to COVID, Da Vinci continues to offer many virtual and self-guided options for prospective students and families to get to know our schools, including recorded info sessions and student chats, virtual campus tours, alumni conversations, and more. We are also offering in-person tours of Da Vinci Connect High’s new campus, located at 550 Continental Blvd. in El Segundo.

Questbridge College Prep Scholars Program (Juniors)

The Questbridge College Prep Program is looking for high school juniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite financial challenges. They take a holistic approach to reviewing applications, and we do not have absolute criteria or cut-offs for GPA, standardized test scores, income, or other factors.

Eligibility

Any high school junior, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the U.S. is eligible for the College Prep Scholars Program. Additionally, U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents living abroad are eligible for the program. International students living outside the U.S. are not eligible.

Applicants must be high school juniors who are planning to apply to college during the fall of their senior year.

Academic Achievement

We seek students who have demonstrated high academic achievement. The following is based on profiles of past College Prep Scholars, and are not strict cut-offs:

Academic Criteria
Grades and rigor of high school curriculum	Primarily A’s in the most challenging courses available (usually including Honors, AP, and/or IB level courses).
Class rank	Top 5-10% of graduating class.
Standardized test scores (if taken)	Please note: Test scores are not required to apply, and around half of QuestBridge applicants in the past year have not had test scores. The numbers below are general criteria based on successful applicants who reported test scores. 77% of last year’s College Prep Scholars scored above 1270 on the SAT or 26 on the ACT (if reported). We also recommend submitting any PreACT, PSAT, ACT Aspire, or AP Exams, if available.
Additional criteria	Evidence of strong writing ability, intellectual spark, and determination.

Financial Qualifications

College Prep Scholars typically come from households earning less than $65,000 annually for a typical family of four and have minimal assets. This is not a strict cut-off and we encourage students who feel they have faced significant financial hardship to review these financial criteria carefully to see if they may qualify.

Financial Criteria
Household income	All sources of household income are taken into account, including, but not limited to: Salaries, wages, and tips Business and farm income Rental income Interest and dividend income Retirement distributions Alimony Child support received
Assets	All assets held by the family are taken into consideration, including: Home ownership Business or farm ownership Cash and savings Investments Additional properties
Non-custodial parent income and assets	Students with divorced or separated parents must report the income and assets of their non-custodial parent, as this information is taken into consideration by our college partners when determining financial need. The only exception is when the student has not had contact with the non-custodial parent for an extended period of time.
Household circumstances	Individual household circumstances are taken into consideration, including: The number of people supported by the household income The number of students in college (undergraduate only) Unemployment or other changes to the household income Eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals Having been in foster care Other non-discretionary financial commitments, such as high medical bills

Personal Circumstances

We also take the following factors into account when reviewing applications:

Parents’ level of education	Many past College Prep Scholars are among the first generation in their family to attend a four-year college in the U.S.
Activities, including home or family responsibilities	Participation in extracurricular, community, or other activities. Activities may include home or family responsibilities, such as part-time jobs to help pay bills, or caring for siblings if parents are absent or at work.
Honors, awards, and achievements	Accomplishments and leadership roles in extracurricular or other activities.
Personal traits	Strength in character and motivation to succeed.

Black College Expo- DVC Field Trip

The Black College Expo is back in-person this year!

DVC is interested in transporting a selective number of students to and from the expo on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. If your child is interested in attending please fill out this form to reserve their spot no later than February 15^th.

There is NO COST to attend this trip. However, you will need to bring lunch or money for lunch.

The Black College Expo™ is an event that highlights over 50 of the 104 historically black colleges and universities, along with other higher learning institutions and educational services. It is an interactive experience for students to get access to colleges, highlighting HBCUs, historically black colleges and universities, and other educational programs.

Students can get ACCEPTED on the SPOT! College Application FEES Waived, and get SCHOLARSHIPS on the spot. This event will help high school juniors and seniors looking for a college home, and college transfer students looking to transfer to a four year college.

This event also serves as a bridge to help college recruiters connect with students looking to go to college. It is also an opportunity for future high school seniors to get connected to a college and get their application fees waived.

Black College Expo is helping students with access to higher education for over 20 years. This event truly helps students connect to college, careers & beyond! The event is produced by National College Resources Foundation (NCRF), a 501c3 nonprofit organization. NCRF has helped over 500,000 students get into college, and helped students connect with over 1 billion dollars in scholarships and grants.

Kenny Washington Memorial Scholarship (Seniors)- Due February 28, 2022

Kenny Washington broke the NFL’s color barrier in 1946 when he signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He ended a 12 year ban on black players in the NFL. He was an icon on and off the field. 75 years later, the LA Rams would like to honor his legacy with the Kenny Washington Memorial Scholarship. In partnership with the Fulfillment Fund, the LA Rams are offering a scholarship renewable for up to 4 years. This scholarship is open to students attending a 4-year or a 2-year college.

All scholarship recipients will be provided with advisement and support from Fulfillment Fund and will be selected for their embodiment of Kenny Washington’s core values: perseverance in the face of adversity, dedication to their goals and the Los Angeles community, fortitude through breaking barriers, and inspiring others around them to make a difference.

Funded by the Rams Foundation, students who are accepted to a four-year college or enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate degree granting program will receive $5,000 per year for up to four years. Scholarship recipients that are accepted to and enroll in an accredited community college will receive $2,000 per year for up to two years. Students may be eligible to receive additional financial support upon successful transfer to a four-year college.

Eligibility:

2.0 GPA
Graduating from high school in Spring 2022
Planning to attend a 4-year or 2-year college in Fall 2022
Must be eligible to apply for the FAFSA (U.S Citizen, permanent resident, eligible non-citizen, T-Visa holder) or CA Dream Act (undocumented students, valid or expired DACA, U-Visa holders, Temporary Protected Status)
Priority will be given to those who are first generation college students
