Thank you so much for all the DVC families who decorated doors on Sunday, brought snacks throughout the week, and donated gift cards during Staff Appreciation Week! We felt well-celebrated this week, and we are grateful for your ongoing generosity and support. The DV Prom was last night and we enjoyed seeing our students dressed up in such fancy attire! We hope that everyone who attended had a fun and safe experience.

College Acceptances: Our seniors got accepted to 176 different colleges this year (check out the list here!) and we are thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments and commitments next week! Our counseling team has put together a Senior Spirit Week with a special College Signing Day on Wednesday, 5/11! Click the links for details. This is another new event for us that we hope to make an annual tradition. The Senior Spirit Week plans are as follows:

Monday, 5/9: All Seniors Wear Purple

Tuesday, 5/10: Throwback (Dress up like you did in your freshman, sophomore, or junior year)

Wednesday, 5/11: Rep your Future (Wear college, career, or military colors)

Thursday, 5/12: Dress up as your favorite teacher or someone who helped you get where you are today

Friday, 5/13: Inside Out Day (dress as the emotions you’re feeling about graduating or college)

School Site Council: On Wednesday, May 11 at 5pm, we have our final School Site Council Meeting over Zoom (link here). The agenda is as follows:

1. Public Comment
2. LCAP: Thoughts for 22-23 School Year
3. Farewell to Outgoing SSC Members
4. Plans for SSC for 22-23 School Year

Da Vinci Communications will hosting a Senior Spirit Week  starting next week, May 9th-May 13th:

Monday:  All seniors wear purple

Tuesday:  Throwback (Dress up like you did your Freshman, Sophomore or Junior Year)

Wednesday: Rep your future (wear college, career or military gear)

Thursday: Dress up as your favorite teacher or someone who helped you get to where you are today

On the Wednesday of our Senior Spirit week, we will be hosting a College Signing Day event to recognize students who plan to attend any college, university, community college, vocational or training program or to join the military after high school.

During our College Signing Day, Seniors will receive presentations from:

• Financial Aid Office Representative who will talk about work-study opportunities, how to appeal financial aid offers and how to access scholarships.
• Resident Director who will speak on how to obtain a Resident Advisor (RA) position.
• Greek Fraternities and Sororities that will talk about why they joined their organization and how it has helped them thrive in college.

In addition, Seniors will also be “signing off” which college/career/military opportunity they will pursue after high school. We ask that all Seniors rep their future by wearing college, career or military gear on the day of the event.

💸 GripTape is offering young people (ages 14-19) this summer $500 to pursue something that is of interest to them (for example art, coding, starting a business, etc.) for 10 weeks through their “Learning Challenge!” Applications are open now – the earlier you apply, the better! 💰 Interested in finding a job? Here is a list of businesses in the South Bay that are hiring youth 16 years and older. Contact your school’s office manager for work permit requirements.

Last week at DVC was awesome! Our Multicultural Event was a great success with huge thanks to our DEI Council and our student performers. Thank you to those of you who donated specifically for this cause; we look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.

Here’s what’s happening this week at DVC:

• Week 33 is Staff Appreciation Week! Please check your email regarding ways to celebrate our awesome staff. They have worked so hard this year to create an engaging, rigorous, safe, enjoyable learning environment for all our students.
• 11th graders will be taking the CAASPP assessments (these are the state-mandated assessments) for mathematics this week. Good luck to the Class of 2023 during their testing.
• There is no school on Friday, 5/6 as it is a professional development day for staff.
• The DV Prom is on Friday, 5/6 at the Proud Bird from 6pm to 10pm. More information about senior activities can be found here: DVC Senior Activities 2022
