The first day of school is Monday, August 15th! We are thrilled to welcome our returning and new students and families to DVC.

School starts at 8:30am! Students should report to the gym for the first day of school. Students will learn who their Advisory teacher is while they are in the gym. Student schedules will be given out on the first day of school during Advisory.

Dear DVC Families,

We are excited to celebrate the 10th year of Da Vinci Communications and begin this school year as strong as ever! Our staff has been working hard in service to our students and their families, from designing engaging projects to cleaning the classrooms. We can’t wait to meet all of the new students and we are thrilled to welcome back all of our returning students! The first day of school is Monday, August 15, 2022 and the school day is from 8:30am – 3:35pm. 

Welcome Back Webinar: We are hosting a Welcome Back Webinar on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 5pm – 6pm. This event is for all DVC families, and it is a virtual event. If you cannot attend the webinar, a link to the recording will be made available. 

Staff Brunch – Request for Donations: In order to show our appreciation to the DVC teachers and staff who have been working hard to get everything ready for this new school year, we are asking for donations for a Staff Brunch organized by our DVC Leadership students and happening on Friday of this week. Please sign up here to bring one or more ingredients from the list. Please drop it off at the main reception office (201 N. Douglas St. El Segundo, CA 90245) from 8:00am – 4:00pm from August 8th through the 11th. Thank you so much for considering this request!

Ken Blanchard Companies is currently looking for high school students rising to Grades 9-12 in the 2022-2023 school year to participate in the first offering of the Student Self Leadership Collaborative Online. This class teaches how to have the mindset and skillset to get what you need to succeed.  Applications are due June 30th.  In the referral line, please put “Desiree Saddler/Da Vinci Communications”.

What’s involved?

• Attend a live, virtual Orientation on July 11th

• Complete self-study mini-lessons over 6 weeks, about 1 hour per week

• Participate in 6 additional live, virtual classes once a week

  • Thursdays at 10:00am and 4:00pm PDT ​

• Provide feedback to the course developers through surveys and possibly focus groups to help make improvements for future classes

• Allow developers to use your user-generated content and image in future marketing and development efforts

What’s in it for you?

• Receive a completion certificate and digital badge that you can share on social media and use when applying to jobs or to college

• Be one of the first people to get access to this life-changing content in this format

• Learn skills to be successful at school, in your activities, at work, with your friends, in your community, and in your life

This week is the final week of the school year! We are proud of our students for doing an excellent job on their Presentations of Learning (POLs) and Final Exams. We have a POL schedule on Monday and Tuesday, and a modified short-day schedule on Wednesday when students will attend each of their classes and end with a student-led CD. 

PowerSchool Access: As a reminder, teachers are busy finalizing grades and inputting assignments this week and next week. As such, PowerSchool access for students and parents is now turned off. Access will be restored once report cards are sent home during the week of Monday, June 13th. Thank you for your understanding!

Summer School: Students who need to recover credits required for graduation are expected to attend summer school. Separate emails will be sent to those who are expected to attend. We are also offering a summer Geometry course for math acceleration. The dates for these programs are as follows:

Session 1: Tuesday, June 14 – Friday, July 1

Session 2: Tuesday, July 12 – Thursday, July 28
